At the Abuja launch of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) platform, Premier Oiwoh discussed how Nigerians living overseas could connect more easily with banking services at home. Nairametrics reported his remarks on 14 May 2025.

Oiwoh described a system intended to support identity verification and access to Nigerian bank accounts remotely. He pointed to trust and convenience as priorities for people who would otherwise need to visit a bank branch in person.

The launch also addressed remittances. Oiwoh connected easier access to banking with the ambition to make transfers more affordable and transparent, and to encourage greater use of formal financial channels.

The initiative formed part of wider cooperation between the Central Bank of Nigeria, NIBSS and participating financial institutions to strengthen connections with Nigerians in the diaspora.
