In an interview published by The CEO Magazine on 5 October 2026, Premier Oiwoh discussed the barriers that keep many Nigerians reliant on cash. He described success in terms of reaching more people and reducing payment disputes.

The conversation covered NIBSS’s investment in technology developed internally, including its Universal Switch and the National Payment Stack. Oiwoh connected that work to lower costs, more reliable services and the ability to respond to local needs.

He also discussed NCube, a shared banking platform intended to give smaller financial institutions access to digital services without maintaining every part of the technology themselves.

Collaboration ran through the interview. Oiwoh described banks, fintechs, regulators and technology partners as essential to expanding access and improving connections between payment systems in Africa.
